This weekend was jam packed. It kicked off with family on Friday which sandwiched a Saturday with great friends, then ended with more family Sunday. I caught up with my wonderful Uncle today, who was telling me about a picture book he remembered growing up with called, "The Little House" by Virginia Lee Burton (he grew up to earn a degree in Architecture). I looked it up later and found out it won the Caldecott Medal in 1943! You can find readings of it on youtube, but a hard copy would definitely serve the sweet illustrations better I'm thinking.
Books at a young age are so powerful! They color our interests, and stay in our minds just like the memories we make with family and friends. What are your favorite picture books?
