Welcome! Thanks for visiting. How did character creating go for you/your kids this month? I’d love to hear about your experience. Please share in the comments or drop me a line!
This month I received completed activity sheets from three grandchildren: EJ (age 14), Kane (age 10) and Audrey (age 8). Thank you for participating and sharing characters with me and the CREATE A CHARACTER community! Your designs are terrific. Nice work!
Let’s talk about this month’s inspiration before zooming in on their delightful characters…
I didn’t travel far to collect shapes! Our backyard has been slowly changing from empty flower beds to speckled green mulch. So, I called my inspiration “Signs of Spring” and took a stroll around our house. Have you noticed the same changes happening in your yard too? It piqued my interest and I kept a steady eye on the plants I photographed. I wondered how much they would grow by the time I posted results (you’ll find out in a bit!).
Let’s start with the familiar plants we see every year: perennials. Notice where my shapes came from in the second block of images (blue shapes)…
Two plants changed quite a bit, while the other two did not.
Let’s take a look at characters. Scroll to see EJ, Kane and Audrey’s fun designs!
Aren’t they spectacular? Thank you for sharing your characters with me, friends! Each design is so unique. I hope you enjoyed coming up with ideas!
Before I wrap up, my pencil sketches are below. My theme was Giant Squirrels in Unusual Trees. I decided to merge the two bottom shapes to go with the other characters. Do you see a story here?
Thanks for visiting this month! Download Activity sheet #152 on Monday, April 1st. If you would like you/your child’s designs included in April’s post, send them my way by Monday, April 22nd. Include a label for each character along with your name + age. Happy Creating!
